    you are right man, Alpha..
but in what way can credit be given to a sound engineer?

Listener always listens like 'wow.. what a sweet voice Himesh Reshmiya has'..'what nice music Pritam has given'
How many listeners know that a sound engineer is actually involved?

I don't know who is best, but I know only one guy - H.Sridhar, engineer for AR Rahman.

Well they create sounds which instrument's cannot. Say, a synthesizer doesn't have any a motor bike sound.. sound engineers record by shouting 'wrooommmmm... ooooommmmmmmmmm woooooom'
and effects during fight like dishoom.. aaaaaaaaaaooooooooo hoo..

ok vini aunty.. sound engineer masters the over all record tasks in the studio.. the mixing levels..recording samples, helping the Music director with effects. and a good example will this, say a girl has got squeaky voice but sings well.. sound engineer can do some arrangements(acoustic, software based etc) which alters her voice.

And its not just limited to this. Good engineers can do wafeform analysis, correct pitches, blackouts and even do syllable changes after recording by just manipulating the waveform in their software.

^ best example : Shibani Kashyap

Its the sound engineer's job to make the voice sound heavenly.
To make each and every instrument be audible, and highlighted.
