alpha@ Its not all about sponsorships there is such thing called product promotions. Everyone who wants to sign up with orkut now needs a "gmail" account. Orkut has millions of members now, which means millions of new registrations for google mail services, which infact has adverts.

Everything does not flow in a straight line.

But like i said, 12$ signup bonus is questionable.
