    Soldier Son

    Leaving to slay the foe,
Fight life’s battle high and low,
Mother, can you hear me go,
    Please pray from me today.

I spread my wings, I want to fly,
Seize my victories where they lie,
I am leaving mother, but please don’t cry,
Just let me find my way.

I want to see & touch and hear,
There are dangers, there is fear,
I'll smile my smiles and dry my tears,
Please let me speak my say.

A lamp is shining bright in the window,
In the window, shining for me,
And i know that my mothers praying,
For the boy she is longing to see.

I am off to find my world my dreams,
Carve my niche, sew my seams,
Remember as I sail my streams,
I'll love you through life and death all the way,

It's the lamp lighting time in the window,
Then in dreams I go back to my home,
I can see that old lamp in the window,
It'll guide me where ever I go.
