^ You forget that we have reached a place where the very definition of weak is challenged. A physically handicapped man with a semi-automatic handgun vs. an unarmed 90kg strong man. Who's weak?

There is a reason the "weak" humans have survived. They found a way. Then by definition they are no longer weak.

So going by your take on anarchy, the intellectually elite should then enslave the physically powerful and eliminate everyone in between. That probably includes you and me.

The fallacy here is the assumption that "what nature intended" is best. It's f***ing not. Nature intends for us to be born, walk around naked, eat, poop on our legs, f*** and die at the age of twenty.

Sorry, civility is LEARNED behavior. Nature intended us to rape and kill and eat and not do much more. Natural selection wants us to survive, f***, pass on our genes and die. FULL STOP.

So, if you would rather be an animal just because it's "the natural way" I would have to disagree. Survival of the weak makes sense. We need to look after the weaker members of our society because they're people also. And they deserve a shot at life if they want it.

Survival of the fittest? What purpose would it serve if only the fittest survive in a short, quick life where you would never get the chance to experience anything the world has to offer? Just live, f***, die? Some life. Sorry, we've got an enlarged frontal lobe for a reason - we don't need to depend on a primitive instinctual brain anymore.

Dunno. I don't think we need to look after the 'weaker' members of our society. Most of them come up with their own methods of survival, we just need to refrain from actively getting in their way.

Braille was invented by a blind man. Let the weak define themselves.

Weaker doesn't mean handicapped. It also means poor, hungry, sick, anything. For eg. If you're sick, our social framework needs to accomodate you and take care of you till you can get back on your feet, at which point you can return the favour (as a part of society) when I get sick.

All of you guys got some really valid points.

But I see some terms to be rectified.

Weak - A person with lesser resources is not weak. The person (or nation, etc) who can DO LESS with what he/she has is weak.

Natural vs learned behavior - We REALLY CANNOT SAY. I've pondered over this many times. Nudity is natural? Where do clothes come from? Cotton etc. Who refines them? Man does. Who creates the raw materials? 'Nature'. Who creates man? 'Nature'. Hence clothes = natural, all of a sudden. You can apply this anywhere, try homo***uality and incest and defeat the 'natural' path people instantly. You could say every human is artificial that way, simply because other humans made him/her =|

@alpha1 - Capitalism is indeed like anarchy under a mask, it's strange I never noticed. Our country really is a literal free for all (and I actually enjoyed this freedom and never really acknowledged it this way), if one takes care one will indeed bypass the system and manage anything. Car thefts, riots, illegal mining, poaching, black money, drugs, underage alcohol...it's amazing how the system flourishes despite itself.

I agree, but I'm kinda split on this. Actually, this 'weaker' thing is funny. Weaker at what? So far in this discussion the parameter to define that seems to be 'survival'? But if we've really moved beyond that, then I'm guessing survival is not the greatest priority in a man, unless it's the middle of WWIII and the last shred of 'help the fellow people' has disappeared? I may contradict myself, but while it's a fairly free country, there still IS some socialism around. People will try to help someone who's injured, a blind person, a person bad with directions and bus routes, and so on.

We're artists. And art is, as said, possible only after survival has been taken care of. Also, it's obvious that everyone has their goods and their bads. Someone may not be very good at survival (whatever that may imply; physical strength for instance), but if they're an excellent artist or a thinker (all I can think of for examples are music/art legends, and VVIPs), won't they be protected by SOME people? (old teachers of fields, for example, always have some dedicated students who are actually concerned with their well being, I know I'd be for mine.)

guitardoctor = socialist (which is not an entirely bad scheme altogether, except for exactly what alpha1 said - humanity has it's bad eggs, and they'll use/beat the system for their ulterior motives some time or the other)

    I'll take that. xD

I know we're both studying medicine and all that but I really don't take the humanitarian aspect further than needed. I'm not going to be able to help every poor hungry and sick man out there.

Like I said, let the weak define themselves. Everyone is weak according to someone else.

We're talking ideal situations here... Obviously in a resource starved world this is difficult to accomplish... But anarchy is one extreme, socialism is another, and I think in the long run humanity needs to aim for something better than the present.

Don't worry, actually, no one cares that much, everyone's just killing time, and what better way to do it than with an old fashioned political discussion.

I like how pictures are the new replacement for wit...it's a little like how "like" is a replacement for "d-uh" when you speak.

fair enough but borrowed wit isn't really amusing the 1342354823st time.

How amusing someone finds it depends on the person, of course... Some of us are bored of the Kanye West memes, but when I see someone using it it's easier to ignore it than to moan about it... No?

Easier yes, more productive no. Moaning is done in the hope that perhaps people see the light and start doing it a little less than usual?

Yes yes, I did notice this line of conversation is extremely productive...

If you don't like this image either, please moan harder, maybe I'll stop doing it...

Seriously, are you really going to start an argument over whether or not an image I posted was funny? And try to justify it as some weird Skinnerian experiment? If you don't like it, ignore it man... I don't get my panties in a bunch every time someone posts an unfunny joke.

haha, I like the let me do what I want to people. "Quit doing _____ and let me do what I want to."

Yes, because that is not a contradiction.
