Smile or Cry?

A worthy question, an option you have, to attain what you fought for so long but leave what you already had.

    It was a long nightmare,
    season of excruciating pains.
    Clamour of an aching heart,
    bound and restrained.

Stuck in a well of darkness,
    with no way out.
    A tiny head gasping,
    mouth a water spout.

The wait lasted the frosty winter,
and a weary summer to come.
Mightiest heart seemed to give away,
    with a job half undone.

    A ray of happiness pierced,
    the moment so saline.
    It shall end someday,
    a thought so sublime.

Now I get what I ask for,
    I'll leave for my pursuits,
    A long wait, now ended.
But shall I smile or cry?
I ask you, O my soul,
and figures form in my mind.
    I leave for my destiny,
But leave all I had behind.
