    hey guys.....
i am new to the guitar and i have learnt a couple of songs......one of them is dooba dooba....
i can strum.....but i cant sing as i strum it......while strumming the song....all my concentration is in getting the strumming pattern and chords right......
i tried to sing along but that ruined my strumming......
    any suggestions....???
    thanx...

    LOL
(not at you, but at the situation)

dont really get hung on the issue of "strumming pattern"
when u play + sing, your concentration should be more on singing rather than playing.

e.g. lets take your Dooba Dooba song:
    https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=11793

now just strum once where the chords are mentioned. dont follow any strumming pattern.
with time n practice u will automatically start strumming like the original song.

have a look here also https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=6639

    thts sounds good ...
But better try starting with songs where the vocal tune goes with chord tune ... Like paranoid ... or To and extent papa kehete he ... Then it will give some confidence to try others ...
and keep the guitar volume high ...... (these words are coming form a guy who cant do these things ! ha ha .. But anyway that should hel;p /....)

    ROTFLMAO

no practice is not the complete solution
    it is praticing intelligently.

Just like success is not borne out of only hard-work.
Rather it is due to intelligent hard-work.

    umm
I think my post was a little vague so here is a nice illustration:

Long time back I had this target of being able to play the aeolian mode at any position with speed.
I used to play the mode changing locations and positions. However, after a moment I realized that am not making any progress.

Reason: the way I was fingering and picking was not optimal.
So I changed the way I was holding and fretting the fretboard. Changed the pikcing syle, picking attack.

    Result: drastic improvemnt in speed.

Next was taht I wanted to be able to change between various modes on the fly. i.e. begin with Aeolian and shift to Dorian etc. Throw in a bit of Harmonic Minor too.
Relentless practice didn't do much help.

Reason: I still didnt have the clear picture in my brain. My fingers couldnt feel whether the note just going to be fretted and played is in scale or not.
So I drew a big chart depicting the fretboard, with all teh possible modes. Everytime looking at that makes an entry to the back of your mind.
Even while practicing on scales I used to look not at the fretboard but at the chart.

Result: I was able to visualize what I was playing. That helped a lot in chaning positions, scales etc on the fly (where u dont have time to think).

But am really pissed off with myself for not doing all this after passing outta college. Anyway new year resolution is to improve my playing.
And some measures have been taken. :)
