For the rust I use a Dunlop CO-101. I need the gel packs to stop the wood from swelling, since it's a pure solid wood acoustic guitar, it's very susceptible to humidity. My current packs are nearing end-of life and I need to change them out. My tuners and strings are fine, thanks to the CO-101. Smelly, but works perfectly. I also have Kyser string cleaner which works well for string s and tuners, should the need arise.

Thanks for the tip on shoe shops, gives me a place to start!

DON'T use WD-40. It will gunk up your tuners after 4-5 uses. Vaseline works the best, and is easily removable.
