I have never actually used a pedal before, so i have a few question 1) can i use it along with a processor for adding reverb etc.. 2) Would the above said noise be a big problem( i mean here in india we usually have a lot of earthing problems) 2) Would the noise gate on my digitech RP80 be any good if there is noise... I am looking for hi-gain tones (for pantera slayer etc) Are there any other pedals worth looking at..
I'd say: NONE of the above. You want Slayer and Pantera. Choose one dude. Slayer is a classic metal tone JCM800, and Pantera is "groove" metal sort of tone very high gain metal. If you can spend more, then AMT pedals would do more justice than Boss. However to get that Pantera's razor sharp distortion, you DO require an external EQ pedal.

i own the death metal one.. well got it as a gift .. it doesnt have a gain knob.. gain is set at 11... a great pedal for death metal but thts it... u cant play anything with it except stuff tht require extremely high gain... buy this one if ur into death metal..
get a digitech death metal, or u knw what? extend ur budget nd get a good processor. i really like indivudal pedals myself, i had a hot head nd now have a Digitech DM, its really good, but it doesnt give u the tone u want, unless u set it right, and like god of guitar said^^^ its only if u play tht kind of stuff all the time.> while in a processor u can add extra stuff like a flanger or more reverb, incase ur playing on an amp tht doesn't have reverb>
Defeintly NO WAY! MT-2 is better than that. Any pedal which is touted as "gain maxed out at 11" or other BS, is simply marketing BS. In metal, you dont have to max out gain ever. Unless ofcourse you want to sound yourself like total noise. Increasing gain only reduces the clarity of the notes you are playing. "Metalness" comes from voicing, not the extent of gainyness. If you check out Metallica, Megadeth etc with real concentration, you will realize the usual rhythms they play would be keeping the gain ~5/6 on the amp distortion. And for leads, they dont increase gain, they just boost the signal, to give more drive/sustain. Among pedals for metal - I have found AMT metallizer - that I have simply great. AMT Du-hast is also good, but it has more scooped mids tone to it. Nothing like Tech21 GT-2. If you can get that, you will be miles closer to professional tone and feel. BTW GT-2 would be around Rs 9K. But totally worth it. Just check out the soundclips. PS: check out all soundclips, and decide which sound more professional to you: Deathmetal: https://www.digitech.com/products/DeathMetal.htm MT-2: https://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/MT-2/ MEtallizer: https://www.pedalgeek.com/cgi-bin/new_shop.cgi?config=&uid=3Yb43AAA1190260320&command=link--amtm GT-2: https://www.tech21nyc.com/gt2.html PPS: AMT metallizer simply nails the Youthanasia tone, thats my gaurantee. Anyone having even slightlest of doubts, can have apedal shootout with me. Pit your digitechs and Boss against my AMT.
The reasong why I still recommend GT-2 is that GT-2 is: 1. most pro / tube amp sounding 2. most versatile 3. you can use pedals like Tubescreamer and bad monkey to boost, and get a real pro lead tone that cuts throuhg everything on stage.
the gt-2 is available in bajaao...i remember seeing it there...just check again or email ashu about it
I just have budget of 5k So i guess the MT-2 is the only one i can afford But i still haven't decided on getting a pedal, i want my doubts answered....
increase it to 6.5 and get the AMT fatal Tube. P.s: To Fatal Tube users: Can it nail that glam rock sound? Skidrow sound? My amp is too modern voiced for that
^ How many times will you ask all that? Fatal Tube is meant for 80s metal. Hair metal. End of Discussion. If you use an aggresive EQ (usually external), then you can use it for nu-metal too. Or you can buy AMT Metallizer, and cut down on EQ cost.
Ambush - You want Metallica's tone or Megadeth? Metallica - 80s, or post Black, or St.Anger? Megadeth - RIP, or post RIP?
