Difference between a semi-acoustic and an electric is very simply and very vivid. As the name suggests an electric guitar requires electricity to play and then you need amplifiers , processors and stuffs like that. But an semi-acoustic can handle both electricity and unplugged. In a semi acoustic you can use it to play acoustically. ;)If you want you can play electric too. An electric guitar will have a solid body and no air hole.(round or 'f' hole).

I suggest go for an semi if you are an beginer...

Please REPUte me..I am in need..:

    niks already explaine everything
but would like to add on
that an electric is very fragile
    it needs more maintainence
and YOU can also have effects on an electric

actually the thing is like this. the body of a semi acoustic has resonating capabilities just like an acoustic, but has pickups fitted so you can plug it into an amp and play it like an electric. an electric, on the other hand, does not have a resonating body (usually made of solid wood) and therefore requires amplification.

as its already explained wats the diif between electric, acoustic and semi acoustic....i wudnt say it again....also as evry1 says(i am not the 1st one but one of them.....) if u are a beginner.....go 4 an acoustic(semi or not comes later) 4 a semi.....if u like to play thru a amp or a hi fi...go 4 a good acoustic and add a clip on pickup or somethin.......if u are serious on playing it in studio or stage then go 4 a high are gud and u get a nice semi with preamps and all for around 8-10k, i have got a wasburn semi acoustic with 4eq and preamp(d10ceq sunburst) that i got 4 15k, it gud and even has balanced xlr output so helps in recordings.....when i was searching for mine i even considered ovation applause....they are pretty gud but are very sharp coz of the fibre back that they have got, gud 4 studio but u shud like the sound to but it......they cost around 13k-17k so still in range, very less ppl buy high end acoustic but as i own one, i can tell u its totally diff playing on it,also, reps or not, i wud tell u not to buy an indian semi or acoustic cuz they s**k big time, no offends but if they were making good stuff then i wud be promoting them on the streets without pay.......

    Thnk u all....

Why wud I bad rep u man?????

    Ya.....I know Indian guitars..
Been playin a particularly less known Indian brnd "Gibtone"...4 three yrs now.
ANd it scks really bad.......The guitar goes off tune every now an then........The bridge is in complete bad shape...........The gap betwn the fretbrd and strings is nearly 1 cm.......U need someone with iron fingers to play barre chrds on this one..
Thts why I was plannin 2 go 4 an imported...
It will cost me a bomb........but its a one time investment........
I have suffered once pal......n I'm not goin 2 suffer agn.
