Scott Weiland did not appear at a probation status hearing on Friday, causing a judge to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

Weiland's lawyer characterized the warrant as a technicality and called it standard practice when a hearing is rescheduled, noting that the hearing has been pushed back to Tuesday.

The hearing was supposed to determine whether the probation Weiland received from pleading no contest to driving under the influence would affect his probation from a prior drug-possession case.

Weiland's lawyer Anthony Brooklier said that because the Velvet Revolver singer had a full schedule of performing and traveling, he had requested two weeks ago that the court reschedule the hearing. Velvet Revolver played Sayreville, New Jersey, on Thursday night and are scheduled to headline the Rolling Rock Town Fair in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

"It makes it sound pejorative to say there's a warrant," Brooklier said. "You knew this guy would not even not show up for a hearing. The court agreed to put [the hearing] over [until Tuesday], and they issue a bench warrant and hold it. That's what it really amounts to."

Upon hearing of the DUI arrest in late October, the judge in the drug-possession case determined the DUI charge was a violation of Weiland's probation and revoked the singer's freedom, ordering him into detox . The lockdown aspect of his rehab was later amended, and he will have completed the terms of his sober-living program under that probation by the end of this month, at which point he is scheduled to have six more months of after-care counseling and testing.

The Los Angeles city attorney's office said it had anticipated that Weiland's new probation would run concurrently with his prior one.

Scott Weiland got good news on Tuesday when he appeared in a Pasadena, California, court — the judge overseeing his probation from two felony charges of drug possession deemed his efforts to stay clean a success and granted the singer

permission to leave the country for Velvet Revolver's European tour.

At his probation status hearing, Weiland received a certificate from Genesis, a nearby treatment facility, for completing a six-month treatment program there. Pasadena Superior Court Commissioner Collette Serio also noted that all of Weiland's drug tests have come out negative. While Velvet Revolver tour Europe, the singer will have to continue periodic drug testing.

"The judge congratulated [Weiland] for complying with everything," Weiland spokesperson Mitch Schneider said. "They were very happy with his participation in the [rehab] program, and that he had been so cooperative."

"The judge even congratulated him on his success with Velvet Revolver and apologized for the technicality," Schneider said, referring to the bench warrant issued on Friday and held until Tuesday to ensure Weiland's appearance in court (see "Warrant Issued For Weiland; Lawyer Calls It Technicality"). Schneider said the court had forgotten to take Weiland's scheduled appearance on Friday off the record once it had been moved to Tuesday.

Now that Weiland's completed the terms of his sober-living program for the possession offense, he's scheduled to continue after-care counseling and testing while serving three years of probation for pleading no contest to driving under the influence (see "Scott Weiland Sentenced To Three Years' Probation For DUI"). Under the terms of that probation, he's required to enroll in another six-month drug-treatment program, which, like Genesis, will allow him to come and go, and he also must attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week for the next three years.

In addition, his DUI sentence requires him to pay restitution to the owner of the parked vehicle he struck. A hearing on that matter is scheduled for September 9.

Weiland's next probation status hearing is scheduled for October 1.

A judge reportedly issued an arrest warrant for Courtney Love [ tickets ] on Friday (7/9) after she failed to appear at her Los Angeles arraignment on an assault charge.

Love's attorney told the court that Love was in New York, and was "confused" about whether she was required to attend the hearing, according to the Associated Press.

The 40-year-old singer is accused of attacking a woman with a bottle and a flashlight at the home of her former manager. She posted $55,000 bail last month, which the judge ordered forfeited on Friday. New bail was set at $150,000.
