i have started learning scales ...for now i have learned g major pentatonic scale on full fret board ......

now my question is when playing g major backing track,i have to play the whole fret board in g major only or any other scale.

because in some backing track there's written the chord progression ...???

You can also use Em scale (also known as E Aeolian mode) because it's the relative minor of G. This is because it has same notes as the G major scale.

that means i have to only play G pentatonic or E minor over the fret board over backing track ,nothing else ?
