    Well I shall share my knowledge of right hand plucking practise with those having trouble or discomfort in plucking . Learnt in my guitar class and thought it might help those in need .

    Well lets start :

    Right hand position for plucking chords

    1) The right hand should be titled so that the plucking are more or less in line with the strings. The thumb should extend to the side. From your view-point it should cross your index finger.

    2) The strings are caused to vibrate and sound by the action of the right hand thumb and fingers.

    3) The thumb plays the 6th , 5th or 4th string , depending on the chord.

    4) The index finger plays the 3rd string .

    5) The middle finger plays the 2nd string .

    6) The ring finger plays the 1st string .

    Note: For a clear loud tone it is necessary to keep some nails. The nails should just protrude above the finger tips. They should be shaped to follow the natural contour of the finger tips. We should always strive to acquire a good tone production

    Try to maintain a good position , which is stated above , before starting this plucking exercise. Remember once you've mastered this , just increase your tempo and try to do it without looking at the strings. If there is a will , there is a way , so never give up .

    Code:

    Prac 1

    e--------0--------|--------0---------|--------0--------|
    B------0---0------|------0---0-------|------0---0------|
    G----0-------0----|----0-------0-----|----0-------0----|
    D-----------------|------------------|--0-----------0--|
    A-----------------|--0-----------0---|-----------------|
    E--0-----------0--|------------------|-----------------|

    e--------0--------|--------0---------|
    B------0---0------|------0---0-------|
    G----0-------0----|----0-------0-----|
    D-----------------|------------------|
    A--0-----------0--|------------------|
    E-----------------|--0-----------0---|

    After you have mastered this , do play around with the 1st , 2nd and 3rd string. instead of G , B , e , you can try B, G , e , G , B . After which you feel you have mastered in plucking , try the songs stated below.

    Recommended song to test your skills : Anak by Freddie Aguilar (phillipines song but it has an english version , highly recommended . very good plucking song) or Nothing Else Matters by Metallica (prac 1 will really help you with this) .

    I hope it has helped those who have trouble with plucking . Do post in if you need any help for this tutorial . All the best!

    E,A,D = Thumb
    G = Index
    B = Middle
    E = Ring

    Fingr pickin is da most xcitin part abt guitars imo.

    in the second exercise...this is how uL start to play.

    1st step -pluck the E&D strings together at once(E with thumb&D with index finger)
    2nd- pluck A with ur middle finger
    3rd- pluck E with ur ring finger
    4th- pluck A with middle finger
    5th- pluck D with index finger

    my god..this is the simplest exercise u can ever..do.still ppl r confused.there is no restriction wid fingers and plectrum..do it everyway..just experiment..told ya!!

    Try Scarborough Fair, Blackbird (Beatles) for popular songs finger picked. And if u want a good challenge with Travis picking (a form of finger picking), try Dust in thw Wind by Kansas - I still need to work on this one.
