    those are rests (they tell you how long you hold a given note or chord for).
    "Rest are noted as capitalized note lengths ie:
    W - whole rest
    H - half rest
    Q - quarter rest
    E - eight rest
    S - sixteenth rest
    T - thirty-second rest

    "A whole note equals four beats. A half note is half of that: two beats. A quarter note equals one beat, an eighth note equals half of one beat, and a 16th note is a quarter beat (there are four 16th notes per beat)."

    the above notation is helpful if you don't have the song available to listen to.
