1. They will most probably watch the version with the subtitles. 2. The punju accent is not important, no one gives a damn about it, and honestly it was way too pretentious. 3. If history was that important then Lage Raho Munnabhai would have been a better choice as west is crazy about Gandhi-isms. 4. When Lagaan didn't win, everyone went "the panel is impartial towards Indians....blah blah". Honestly it didnt deserve to win. If movies like Water (Cleverly chosen by Canada as its entry) are competing then RDB has no chance...and it portrays the Indian history better than RDB. 5. Im an Indian, and the movie has failed to lit up a flame inside me. I feel that Sunny Deol movies like Ghayal, Salakhen etc. are better for this "enlightenment".
If the punju accent doesn't get to them then the phirang speaking in hindi will. I actually got annoyed in the first ten minutes and went out to eat. Water? Deepa Mehta's water? How the hell did Canada get to choose that?
She wasnt allowed to shoot it in India hence had to do it in Sri Lanka. I guess the academy people scrapped the rule which said that the movie has to be represented by the country of origin. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/2019120.cms Its supposed to release in India around November.
why do movies which show indians fighting britishers and then winning, are always nominated for oscars?
