nice bass. what are you moving on to?

i'd be tempted if it wasn't way out of my budget and the fact that i'm specifically looking for a stingray, music man or a very good clone.

Thanks. I recently fell in love with classical guitar so I'm moving away from bass guitar (to preserve the long right hand nails). Just got a Ramirez 2CWE for some serious learning.

I also have an old Fender Jazz Bass for those times when I would feel like playing the bass again (with a pick) though. I have tried the Music Man StingRay you mentioned. It felt like a one-trick pony (funk) but definitely a pretty good one at that!

the stingray rules for funk hands down. it's definitely not a versatile bass as such, and more suited towards modern styles (great rock bass too). i love the distinctive sound though - it's an aggressive bass, fat as hell. was leaning towards a jazz bass initially, but decided that the EBMM had the sound that i really wanted. the newer models have a coil split too, if i ever need it.

it's an active bass, but that shouldn't be a problem with a tube preamp like the alembic f2b, which has ridiculous amounts of clean headroom.

i love the jazz bass sound too though. my favorite bass tone (and bassist too) is tony levin, but i love the aggressive, upper-mid heavy sounds of geddy lee, justin chancellor, john entwistle etc. so it was really difficult deciding what i'd end up with.

i'll use my cheapo no-name chinese 6 till next year and pick up a stingray then, i think. can'T afford your warwick sadly :)
