Hi friends, i currently own an ESP AX-50 ........and im going for a new guitar Ibanez XPT-700...which has DiMarzio Activator pickups. Are they good for playing metal? Also i was thinking for changing my guitar pickups with EMG 81.....can anyone tell me, is EMG 81 only for lead guitarisng or it can be fine for rhythm as well... Thank you
i too have an ESP AX-50 and i will suggest u to go with the ibanez. The pickups alone dont decide the sound. The wood of the guitar, its bridge, its tuners, its setup also play gud factor. The ESP has cheap wood, cheap bridge, tuners. U should not invest in cheap guitar if u have money to buy better guitar. I m myself plannin to sell my ESP AX-50 and go for a better second hand guitar.
yes yes yes dats absolutely true! any ibanez model above 220 is waaay far better dan an esp or krammer of same price!

@ prateek: get active EMGs. The best deal. I cant see a reason y people just shrug away guitars saying they r cheap... U just need to play well man, n u can create magic on givsons too (to a certain extent)... N as far as metal is concerned, EMG actives wid a good processor is enuff... Ur ESP vil do...
