Roger Waters is a God lyricist. Stuff like In the Flesh, Lunatic, Dogs, Welcome to the Machine etc. Lol, I dont know about Syd though, what is Lucifer Sam? Is it the cat in Alice in Wonderland?
dunno abt lucifer/alice but yeah syd was [more than] a bit whacko.. but i kinda liked the utterly depressing melancholy edge in his 'music'
PInk FloYd!! We can talk about these guys the whole freakin day!!!! Their music runs deep...very symbolic-meaningful. More than the music itself tho...i think its the lyrics that get everyone. The guys are CCRAAZZYYY..livin on psych-drugs. But I love EM
Yeah I am in delhi.I've got some music videos of them. But if you dont have any album of thiers i have full discography.I also have the movie the wall and some unreleased songs of gilmour.I dont know about some of those songs as they are instrumental, style is gilmour but seems as if not his compositions. And we could share pink floyd stuff. Those dvd's well....I want them man.
Im sorry to dissapoint you, but Syd was the only drug user in the band. The rest were occasional alcohol drinkers. Piper On the Gates of Dawn was the only drug influenced album.
Dilettante syndrome darling, perfectly understandable, dont let it happen again, read what le big mac dennis is sezzin'.
Same to all those who make a lot of assumptions without reading the posts clearly and understanding....
All great music came from guys who were on Psych-Drugs. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Greatful Dead, Jim Morrison, Jefferson Airplane, Eric Clapton, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Joe Cocker, .... and the list goes on. Woodstock is the best ever Music Festival. Nothing could have happened without that hippie generation and the psych-drugs. Well.... I am not promoting psych-drugs....but drink Beer
!!!!! Syd Barrett had this quality like a candle that was about to be snuffed out at any minute. Really all illumination. An extraordinary, wonderful man. He took lots of LSD. Lots of people can take some LSD and cope with it in their lives, but if you take three or four trips every day.... https://www.pink-floyd.org/barrett/sydarticle.html
@dennis: wasnt david into 'em at one point??? @disturbed: na..man-im in a happy mood..this time im just laughin it off. But im on tya.. @ronnie...yup cant help but agree wid ya..some of these guys really kicked a$s. Which shud tell us somethin' *Humming*...Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Thats by the Beatles- from the Sgt. Peppers album (not Pink Floyd : ). And no, Gilmour wasnt, at least he has publicly denied this( which was kinda 'uncool' at that time)
hi, if anyone interested in The wall go to: https://www.thewallanalysis.com/ and Dark Side Of Moon: https://users.wpi.edu/~vamend/
Floyd is a perfect example of getting success without compromising your music. Btw, right now I am listening to A Saucerfull of Secrets.
