my hunch is that it isnt the pickup...
its either the bad pots ... or very high pickup.
try changing your pots and lowering your pickup...
    should help ...

    death_metal_fan oh goody, it's a woody!

"Pots" refer to the knobs used to control the tone and volume on the guitar.

    well in my case
i have 1 knob for volume in my guitar only
but i guess it also changes tone ...

Yeah, basically the pickups are wired to the output jack through the pots and the selector switch...the volume pot has various calibrated resistances to give u adjustment in volume while the tone pot has a controllable capacitor circuit to adjust tone....the 'pot' is just a short for potentiometer...

I guess it's your pickup. If the pickup is moderate to high output and slightly muddy, it can overdrive the sound. I guess it would happen only when you strum hard as the gain increases as your strum hard. Strum softly and it might not overdrive. Do this test. If it happens this way, it's surely with the pickups.

yeah add a capacitor of a higher value on your tone pot, i think the present cap would be of .47uf or .22uf ... try using 1uf ceramic disk capacitor, should reduce the crunch and the overdrive tone, but dont blame me if it gets muddy.
