i lowered the pick up height till the guitar body level...i feel more smooth sound...is it relally effects ? or is it just my belief because i didnt find much change bt a slight change in tone ..i feel a lil smooth whlie shredding!
Actually it would. If you read about electromagnetism (the principle behind working of pick-ups) - the magnetic field diminishes as inverse square of distance. The closer the magnetic poles are to the string, the more amplitude (as well as dynamic range) of vibrations caught by the coil. And of course the characteristic of the coil will determine which frequencies respond better at higher amplitude. So you may get a change in tone.
Why should it? In fact why did such a thought even cross your mind? Have you observed all guitars to have same pick-up height?
@alpha : oh.. man alpha.. is there anything that you wouldn't know..? you're always with the answers in this site.. did you born with a guitar...?
This is my rebirth, earlier I have visited earth as: 1. Isaac Newton 2. James Clerk Maxwell 3. Albert Einstein
