pick up height!!

    i lowered the pick up height till the guitar body level...i feel more smooth sound...is it relally effects ? or is it just my belief because i didnt find much change bt a slight change in tone ..i feel a lil smooth whlie shredding! :D

    Actually it would.
    If you read about electromagnetism (the principle behind working of pick-ups) - the magnetic field diminishes as inverse square of distance.

    The closer the magnetic poles are to the string, the more amplitude (as well as dynamic range) of vibrations caught by the coil.

    And of course the characteristic of the coil will determine which frequencies respond better at higher amplitude.

    So you may get a change in tone.

    in short!! it wont harm my pick up na?? if i keep changing the height? or it will?

    In fact why did such a thought even cross your mind?
    Have you observed all guitars to have same pick-up height?
