    wow that was so helpful!

^^ what do you neeed the keyboard for? is it as a piano replacement which will need 88keys+weigh graded keys or as a general composer with lots of electronics and computer interface?

If you need a keyboard for a band, i then recommend not to buy a keyboard, but a synthesizer. But as you already said, for general composing, i don't exactly know what you meant by this, if you want to compose your songs on your keyboard, you should go for a workstation! But i recommend to compose your songs using your computer and some software, for example Cubase or Cakewalk. You then will need just a master keyboard and those keyboards aren't so expensive!
So back to your question, what brand to buy. If you really want a good quality keyboard, just go for a KORG, ROLAND or a YAMAHA. Which one it will be is just a matter of your taste, so just go to a well-known music store and just try them out , and if its a good, well-known shop the people there can give you some professional tips etc.
    Good luck!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, if you decide to make your compositions using your computer, then you will need a powerfull computer ( i recommend an Intel and not an AMD cause the AMD processors aren't always compatible with all the music software progs and VST-plugins!), with enough memory installed, i suggest 2Gigs or more, and most important, a professional low latency soundcard! All the software and the VST-instruments needed, you can easily download from the many torrent sites!!!
Just read my sticky in the IGT soundtrack section about how i make my songs, compositions, you also can search google for more info and tips, there are lots of sites about this issue!

    Good luck man!!!

Its just what i said before, if you just want to use it for composing music on your PC, than a master keyboard is enough to play your arrangements on your PC.
If you want to use the sounds from your keyboard/ synth aswell, then you should go for a Roland, Korg or a Yamaha. Just go to a good music store and they will give you the proper advice, and you will be able to hear the sounds aswell!

I dont know how good you are @ keyboard

So, if you are a noob in keyboard... i suggest 61 keys YAMAHA keyboard with not very high functionality. google PSR E 303.... see if it's available in India. Good thing is that it is touch sensitive, and (perhaps) detacts chords as well.

I bought 413. I'd suggest do something similar, buy a low level keyboard (low level, not low quality) like mentioned above, which will be about 6-7k only.

Work on it for a while, see what kind of features you want, get familiar with keyboards in general and then go for an expensive synthesiser. Because even with this keyboard, you might not be familiar with all the controls. Definitely good for the start.....
