McLean's songs 'American Pie' and 'Vincent' are considered to be all time classics.

American Pie is sometimes interpreted as : https://coz.mu/archives/2004/08/19/for_a_deeper_appreciation_of_american_pie.html

while 'Vincent' is a song about an artist (painter) named Vincent. Vincent made a famous painting 'Stary Night'. Later on due to severe psychological problems he was sent to an assylum.

the Lyrics are touchy and the music soft (mostly guitar).

er, the "famous artist" called Vincent here, was a certain Vincent Van Gogh!!!


"the Starry Night" is one of his two most famous works, the other one being ofcourse, "Sunflowers".

And he was already in asylum when he painted the "starry night" master piece.
