    Done finally.
    Today recorded AMT Metallizer.

    First clip: https://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=404167&songID=4813898
This one was done on Tech21 TRI-AC with California mode. As you would be able to make out, even though the gain is pretty high, the voicing is very classic with mid-range bark.

    Second clip: https://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=404167&songID=4813910
This one was done on AMT Metallizer. The voicing is very modern.
Infact I didnt put the max gain or high/low settings. Sound pretty heavy, aint it?

The signal chain was very simple:
    Guitar => TRI-AC => Comp Recorder
Guitar => Metallizer => Comp Recorder

PS: download the file first, the soundclick doesnot play teh file properly on the online player. (some issues with 48000Hz sampling rate)

    Oh one goodie here:
Just for fun, I took a frequency graph. I played the 5th fret harmonic on lower E string. And then using diffrent distortions agtain played + recorded.

    Metallizer woes. :(

I wanan mod it so that I can get more sparkly tone, which has more presence. Right now it sound no different from the US-HiGain amp sim on my KorgAX100G.

    :(

U need to tweak ur Metallizer settings... Or u can sell it to me :)

If u really wanna mod it, u can try changing the caps on the o/p side...

    LOL.
    Infact ...

    Today I dismantled my Metallizer.
And guess what I realized (something that I had hunch for very long).

The first AMT I had played around with was Ronnie's Fatal Tube.
And when I got Metallizer I realized how close it was to Fatal Tube's tone; only that its higher mids were harsher than FT.

So I was talking about today, I opened and had a look at the PCB.
It had two spare positions for fitting pots. The pots were in position where you would find contour and gain knob on FT.

And then I saw something - a fixed resitor marked some "112" across the "contour" pot position (the actual pot is not there in metallizer).
And similarly for "gain" pot, there was a resistor marked "0"

So form this what I infer is that for Metallizer, they have hardwired the contour at some slightly scooped mid setting. And maxed out the gain.
The drive on FT becomes distortion on MZ.

Mebbe the treble pot are also slightly diff ( that would explain the slightly harsher tone of MZ).

Conlcusion: get FT. It can do MZ tone, it can also do California tone.
    :)

And yeah, FT with drive maxed, gain at 0 sounds cool and crunchy.

Hmm.. That need not be 100% accurate.. most companies use the same/similar PCB layouts for different pedals. The other components ie. caps, resistors, diodes, ICs, transistors etc may be different. That can have a huge ipact on the tone.. Can u post some pics of ur metallizer's insides?? Esp the PCB and the wiring of the switch?

The harsher tone can also be ecaue of different diodes used for the clipping stages.

If u are willing to experiment a lil bit, try replacing the fixed resistors for the gain and/or contour with pots. Add a small current limiting resistance to be on the safe side.

What sort of ckt is it? What ICs does it use? Does it have symmetrical or asymmetrical clipping?

I put it back as soon as I realized that I cannot make much outta the PCB :p:

Mebbe some modder might like to take a look ...

I closed it man in 15 minutes.

I would open it some time later.
Anywya the print on PCB is so feeble, I dont think my phone cam will capture it properly
