If you're asking whether to do your MBA now or later, then I'd say what DMF said:

MBA. Definately i.e. if you do it from a reputed college and not some 3rd grade college in some 'gaon'. If you do you'll get a better job.
MBA = Additional Degree = Better job = better salary.

I didn't read all those replies but I'm sure someone already said that. No I haven't done my mba or am planning to in the near future.

I'm just in the first year of engineering, but from what all i've seen in my family, go for the job first... your prospects change greatly once you have experience on your hands... i think many mba institutes also consider job experience as a bonus point while considering you for admission...
btw, which college are you doing your engineering from? just askin...

Straight thing....do MBA from IIM or from some premier institute or else go for the job. We have MBA's working in our company for 5-6k per month.....so the choice is upto you.

    All the best !!

    See guys....!!

Even 5-6 yrs back MBA was considered to be an excellent career option. One of the reasons maybe because at that time there were not too many of them. The normal process follows appearing for CAT getting good rank and getting admission in a good management school. The passouts were recruited during the campusing process and they got jobs in real big companies.

But nowadays, the scenario has changed totally...private institutions have mushroomed all over the country that provides you with MBA degrees but those degrees hardly carry any importance while looking for jobs....the main thing which matters is that WHERE did u do your MBA from.....sadly enough still today people are attracted by the word MBA and do it from any local institutes....have u ever tried to know their salary ? I dont know about other metros, but in Calcutta a fresh MBA graduate from a non-reputed institution will get 6-7k gross. that means 4.5-5.5k per month.

So my advice will be....if you really want to go for MBA.... devote your time into it and try to do it from a reputed institution which is affiliated to any renowned university. Appear for CAT...work very very hard....last year a guy from IIM Calcutta got a job offer from a bank in london for a salary of 83 lacs per annum....so there is still hope for hitting it big with MBA if you do it from a reputed institution.....and I know that it is not at all easy...in fact that's why they get rewarded so heavily.

and Abhi...my advice to you would be go for the job and see that if u can do ur MBA on a part-time basis from a good institution.

In the interests of truth and correct information, I shall point out that the 83 lakhs salary was by an IIM-A guy, who has now quit the job to return to India. Apparently 21-hour working days 7 days a week didn't agree with him:)
