but in this song, the higher barred scale is being played..

 

I realize that. I, however, felt that a complete chord n00b should try these open chords first.


And the song would be incomplete without Wylde's amazing pinch harmonics :shock:

bjr, thanx for the link. For the A major chord shown in the picture, do we have to press the E string with the thumb? It looks like that in the picture. And is the middle finger used to play this chord?

 

Not quite...I was a bit hesitant about the A major picture since it's technically incorrect to put your thumb so high unless you actually mean to.

We can either use one finger to cover the three notes in a bar or use the index finger for the 4th and 3rd string and the middle finger for the 2nd string
