Making a custom pedal board.

I want to buy some guitar strings like D'Addario, Ernie Ball, Dean Markley, D.R. Martin, Elixir, etc....I still dont have a guitar and I probably wont buy a guitar too...Please suggest me some strings which I can use to make some good rock music without using a guitar...Also suggest me which guage to buy....
