Got this somewhere, n it seems its worked for me, so thought of sharing. Follow the following steps to speed up ur firefox browser. 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
Cool info. I aso used some entries like these to speed up Firefox, but now I've switched over to IE7. Its as good as Firefox (xept the the themes).
woooooooo... it really works fast.. thanks akky... reps.. it says.. spread some for yourself first...
@ addy - Does IE7 support multi tabbed browsing, thats the only thing am stickin to Firefox actually!!
Only problem is that Yahoo says it doesn't support IE7 and loads up in some style thats compatible. There's no download manager but I use Download Accelerator Plus so no problem for me.
^ that is good ... gr8 actually ... since MS has been shunning that concept for more than 5 years now ... b.t.w. IE sometimes causes the svchost.exe to suck up high processor ... does it happen there?
sorry but if u use IE6 then u are still lvining in "stone age" ... firefox and IE7 rule the roost now ...
Pls explain,...... in brief if possible. @lavina - Ur talkin abt speed? Gimme 10Mbps, n still i wont mind more.
yaar ... my frend has a pentium III ... and the prob was that whenever he used IE .. .one of the service host (svchost.exe) started acting up - taking 90% of processor ... kinda hanging the comp ... and firefox used to kill his RAM ... so coulcnt use that either for thefear of hanging so he was stuck up ... so i did the best i could do ... guess?? i loaded lynx on his PC
Badiyan hain man, bloody my 2.8Ghz intel 915 mb,.... it sucks sooo much, whenevr i wanna code in any console based lang, the cpu controlled fan starts acting like a bloody mixer. Even for the high-end graphic games. Wish i could have bought a AMD then.
^ i dunno ... usually i have seen that the cabinets for AMD are much bigger ... tahts coz it has problem staying cooled ... Pentiums usually have smaler cabs ...
dunno bout technical details but u must hav seen AMD 32 series... ive used both AMD 64 and #@ as well as intel nd AMD 64 was da best wid most high end games.....it also gave pretty decent benchmarks
well it doesnt depend only on processor but mainly on ram and grafix card u got...so dun blame ur processor...
