Legal Drinking Age in India?

i will have a a rythym guitarist wid me i will play on lead and a we have singer .we dont exactly have a band!!!!!!!

coming bk to the topic now....i thnk 18 shud b the age...cos when we can gv a person the right to choose the fate of the nation by voting then why cant he decide his fate or actions...i thnk r govt is behaving like a hypocrite..

but i thnk it doesnt matter at all....legal age of driving is 18...but we can see kids driving on the roads...same is the case when it comes to smoking/drinking...so it happens when it happens...no one can put a age limit to this...its all in the mind...

if i decide that i'll drink today...i wont gv a damn to age limit or anythng else for that matter...

& vaise bhi...do u think they look at ur ID card or any age proof before letting u to enter a bar...???

21...cause i think this is the time when you start realizing what is right and wrong.....18 is too young...i mean you are still a kid, so you can't really make any decision as in driving afterwards or how much to drink.....

it's not about being shy or anything...it's about the rules and regulations plus the safety of the civilians...cause when you are 18, you are just drinking to show off basically...and you don't know wot to do and then you go driving and kill about 5 along w/ urself.....atleast this is wot i have learned....at 18 i used to think like a kid...at 21, i m fully grown....

 

i dont care i tried first when i was 15

n now at 20 am simply a social drinker ie only on special occasions

 

i am 77 and i never drank.

 

Perfect description. Whats sadder is that, In many rural parts of the western world, there are only three sources of entertainment for farmers:
- Alcohol (T3H biggest source)
- Fussball
- And beating wives and little kids.


Also, why the **** is India catching up on this? In the western world, its justified to some extent because of the climate. (not the normal way but anyway).

 

well india was already up there at wife beating, and since we dont have much of fotball to talk/speak of, i guess they make up for he lack of it with boose.

btw the boose of the rural folk is different from that of us urban types - they are more into "desi" hoooch.

I never knew that we had age limits for drinking...I thought anybody who is old enough to go and buy a bottle for himself or herself can drink....

No, not just sipped, but drank, so that you hit the high?

BTW, wine was extremely prevalent in India, in the ancient ages as well. So you argument about climate goes down the drain.

 

in delhi and gurgoan they sumtyms do it!!!!!and i hve seen kids and pppl being kickedout of of bars and clubs becoz dey dint have drinking license!!!!!!!

Usually the kids who look/act like KIDS get that treatment.

now i am 19years of age and a social drinker!!!

Some of my friends and I went to a pub once. 3 ppl were above 18 the rest were minors..... Guess what..... 2 of the guys over 18 got asked for licences and ID's.. the rest of us werent asked anything........LOL

Now what on earth exactly is a social drinker?

A person who doesnt like getting a high, because he/she is afraid/concious of himself/herself (especially after high)?
A person who doesnt like the taste of alcohol, but hates admiting in front of others?
A person who cannot decide whether to drink alcohol or to refuse?

or a person who has no preferences?


I'll call all of these ppl with just one term = POSER.

Ofcourse there can be reasons like havgin a high blood pressure, but likes drinking, or wants to drink but has to drive.
But then such people comprise just an iota of the so called social drinkers.
