I am getting very annoying delays with audacity(and all other recording software i tried out)

This is s new problem i didnt have this before
check out my Stairway to heaven cover for proof

I had recently tried out some softwares like cubase and fruity loops

i think it one of it may have something to do with it
Ive tried reinstalling the audio driver, but no use

    Anyone have any suggestions?

my audio card is the inbuilt one Realtek ac97 something

Change to some pro level software like Audition/Cubase/Pro-tools.

Latency issue is due to soundcard. However, pro level softwares take care of these latency issues.

Most probable reason could be the ASIO compatibility (on Windows platform)...Google for ASIO4All and install it...It will convert your existing WDM sound card into an ASIO compatible can read what it does, disclaimers and other related info on the website. It cannot be a replacement for an advanced audio interface, but it will definitely be a huge step forward from the AC97. Make sure, that you select ASIO4all as your audio output interface in appropriate settings.

Or if you have an SB Live! use KX drivers from the kx project. I get 5ms.

Or you just have to purchase a professional soundcard, i think the M-Audio soundcard, Audiophile 2496, is one the cheepest professional soundcard you will ever see. Using this soundcard will solve your latency problem for sure!

Ooh yeah, forgot to say, i loved your recording of stairway to heaven, you did an excellent job, your vocals are pretty good man!

    ok next question

What is the least i would have to spend to get rid of my problem
i.e which is the cheapest soundcard i can use for recording with min delay

As far as i know there are only 2 low budget professional soundcards,
the M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496 and the Terratec Phase22.

I think you should take look here:
    Online Shop Musik Produktiv
I don't know if you are able to purchase in this shop, cause its an German online-shop,i only can tell you, its trustworthy, i bought my soundcard a while ago in this same online shop as i know its worthy!
