I can help you in tunning your guitar by your self. Infact I am totally new in Guitar thing but somehow I tunned my guitar by myself. I hope you know the tunes for "Sa, Re, Ga, Ma..." I think what RBJ is suggesting needs a lot of experience - an ear for the absolutely right and perfect tone - as simply 'making' the tones sound like sa, re, ga, ma... can be misleading cuz even if you get all your tones to sound right in order together, what if the first itself is not the right tone? I suppose you get what I mean. A better way is to use to use a synthesiser to help you tune your guitar. Alternatively, google for 'guitar tuner' and several websites will popup that carry simple midi-based tuners from where you can tune just as if from a synth. I've attached below one such simple tuner from https://www.hotfrets.com/tuner.asp. The best way is to use a digital tuner like the simple and dedicated AP Guitar Tuner (https://www.cerlsoundgroup.org/cgi-bin/aptuner/ftp/apmain/APTunerInstall207.exe) or the advanced and multi-featured GuitarFX Box (https://www.guitar-fxbox.com/fxbox26.zip). It helps if your's is an electric guitar or an acoustic with a soundhole pickup, else you'll need the computer microphone to tune using the above digital tuning softwares.
I agree. AP guitar tuner is impressive.. I like its simplicity and graphical interface. Install it, hook the guitar output to computer microphone input, pluck the string and it will show you how much you are off the actual tune .. .
It can be best for Electric Guitar but for Acoustic Guitar you have to do something like...what I suggested. :think: :think:
I know what you mean. The help page for the software did state that if you have an acoustic guitar, you can play it close to a real microphone and adjust it. Ab bekaar mein tension le raha tha na yaar .. just kidding... Cheers!
@RBJ: Yaar, tuning the strings is not that easy as you make it seem. I'll tell you, it doesn't so much matter if you've just begun playing - in that case you'll hardly feel that difference. But when you start playing more complex things, you'll know that even a quarter turn of the tuning pegs can entirely change the sound of your guitar. *** I think tuning is too important a topic to be not posted as a separate thread. So I'll make a thread only dedicated to the tuners so that all can see...
yeah..I think you are right. I saw your seperate thread for that. Its awesome. Thanks dude. But you know what.? I learnt classical music for about six months and fortunately or luckily whatever you say..I tuned my guitar with "Sa..Re...Ga..Ma".... and I realize that..when I tried to play most of the songs using tabs provided here. But again..I guess I have to use this software to check it whether its properly tuned or not.
