Is it possible (my age is 19) (and I just bought myself a guitar and planning to learn this fall) well now the question, is it possible for a beginner like me who started out with a guitar in hand so late in life to actually recognise the notes and tunes of the songs I like and play it without reading any tabs?

If yes, how may months minimum is it going to take?

Depends on the ear you have really. A fair amount of it is natural and the rest is practise.

I remember I could always play tunes. Only difference is that it initially was a horribly slow process but it started happening slowly but surely.

I read about someone who started when he was 27.

    A. He died 6 months later

    B. He sucked.

    B. He sucked

is scary really...! May be I can prove your notion wrong bro..cheers !
Are you like telling me that only children can learn to play the guitar?

lostalien wins this thread. He's even got awesome replies. I hence deem this thread worthy of closure so it doesn't lose it's sheen.

it depends on how interested u are and the amount of practice u put in.19 is not too late.my cousin started at the age of 30 and he works.but he finds time to practice and hes improving steadily.so if u are into it,then u should give it a shot
