@ashil12345: if u just want to play through computer speaker..its pretty simple then...so to a music shop buy a "convertor"...it comes at rs20 nd it works, bt a little more costlier will b good coz dese wear out in few months..ok coming back to the topic...buy that convertor nd put it in the guitar cable that u got when u bought that electric guitar..that is 1/4" cable nd the convertor is 1/4" to 3.5mm..okay so put that cable to line in jack in ur cpu..nd put ur speakers to max..u will get the clean sound...no distortion though. hope it helped. my question y didnt u buy the amp?? whats electrci guitar without distortion u cud hv played acoustic then..
carlos: thanks for the reply...... my dad gave me this guitar .... i use to play acoustic when i was a kid and now a day been really busy with computer..... basically i think it been like 6 yeare i wake up and sleep with computers so really out of the musical league.... seems i should get a amp as per you suggestion, could you suggest some really cheap amp... need to save money ..... presently preparing for CCIE need to save even a dollar... i am already a tech person i just need to go more deep into nework , music would help me relax at times.

dude i just learnt u hafta give 350$ for one exam paper??omg!!! what are u doing at present??wat are ur qualifications??just curious nothing else..
You guys are a bunch of dunderheads. The 3.5mm converter trick is jackshit. A default soundcard doesn't work well for guitar. Plus I think there's also impedance involved (that's why you have to turn it up so much . I think getting a DI box (that COULD be a solution, IDK, I'm not a pro at this) or better yet, an interface, is your answer. And you're supposed to use a software like Amplitube, ReValver, Guitar Rig etc to get the best (including, but not limited to, distortion) out of a computer based setup. Line 6 POD Studio GX, UX1, and UX2 are known to be good and cheap interfaces for the purpose.
