why do we have the repping system? to get even????????

someone started a lousy poll (offence #1) aimed at Cypher, and when i said as much and asked others to abstain from voting in it , the thread starter gave me a very flattering rep that went "chal phut (ie. "get lost" in the language of the cow belt of india)" (o # 2).....

for those always wondered what the repping and points system is all about - this may throw a good clue - its t here to get even with people who describe a thread/poll that attacks a fellow igt-er as a lousy poll/thread !!!!

    wonderful .

The repping system can be used both ways, its basically is a voting system. There is a good chance you mightrecieve a bad vote. If you have any problem with the bad votes i suggest you take it up with the person who gave you the vote.

i get a bad vote for pointing out that he was in the wrong for having started a thread (poll) in as bad taste as "cypher should be kicked/ cypher should be ignored" - someting down tyhose lines.

wow i though it was for bad/obscene/unacceptable posts - not for pointing out that another's thread and poll has been in bad taste.

if that thread was so good, if nothigh was wrong in attcking cypher, a fellow igt-er thus, then why may i ask was it locked and then deleted?????

and what sort of a gentlemanly comment is "chal phut" ?

We agree it was a bad post and thats why it was closed. We did not give you the bad rep for that post and so cannot comment on it. Please refer to the person who gave you the rep about the details.

i am not so sure that i want to interact personally with a person who can come up with a comment as ungentlemanly as "chal phut".

i have got the odd bad rep before - but there is a proper way to point out the mistakes on my part that fetched me the bad vote. And his is not it.

and the "mistake" i made, in this case, was point out how lousy and in bad taste someone's post/thread was - and so as an act of retribution (the comment "c*** p***" makes it more than clear, whether it was to teach me a lesson for not dancing to his tune or just 'cos of some bad post i made), i get a bad rep !!

where as i completely agree that you wouldn't know what made HIM rep me thus, i am sure you are in a position to judge if its right to use the repping system just to get even with people and to settle personal scores.

It is based on an honour system Who, why, where anybodys votes is completely out of our hands.

oh i get it - the honour system - must say i consider myself luckyto have been able to learnt today, about one of the more honourable uses of it..

ps : does its being based on the "honour system" get people who inarguably use it for dishonourable designs, off the hook?? your answer will come in very handy for me and many others in future.

Do you expect us to run around each and every member on IGT and ask them for a clarification when they vote then you have sadly mistaken. Like I mentioned before if you have need an explanation on the bad vote please take it up with the voter.
