info needed:recording a song using microphone port

hi, i need help.
when i connect my keyboard to the microphone port to record a song i cannot hear the song as i record,why this happens because without listening how can i record.is there a way i can listen along with i record the song

 

your sound card is half duplex.. thats why. you need to invest in an audio interface.. u cant expect to just reocrd of your inbuilt sound cards interface...

 

how much does it cost???????????????

 

depends on what u want to do..
a simple 2 in 2 out usb interface can cost as low as 50$, and high end systems can cost u $$$$$$$$$$$

I would say spending 200 to 300 dollars is sufficent for a home recording studio.
