Indian rock vs Pakistani Rock

BTW in all this battle of the bands chakar. Think about it 5 best bands of Pakistan and 5 best bands of India compete on a grand stage live. something better than that sa re ga ma shit.......

The winners will not be announced that day but the next day which would have the winners opening for one of the best international bands.
 
Well I am posting on this thread after ages. What the hell does one mean when he says "Pakistani Rock Scene is better. Indian Rock is better." Is there a difference? Well my point will remain that the Pakistani scene is better. I read a lot of people brought up this point that Pakistan just has Atif Aslam, JAL, EP, etc. which are not rock bands and therefore Indian Rock scene is better. Someone here mentioned a lot of underground Indian rock bands here. Did you know that there are many underground rock bands in Pakistan too which play pure rock music? Hence, Pakistan is superior in that area too. I had a friend who played bass for a local metal band called "Messiah", you should just check them out and then comment. I think Pakistani bands achieved more success because they added some local flavor to it, without having huge "I am a Rockstar, I don't like commercialism" egos. If you want to take Nihari to Finland, you have to cut down on the spices to suit local tastes unless you want to be arrogant and serve just the few thousand desis who can handle the taste. There are underground bands which play good real rock music but these mainstream Pakistani bands are good in their own way too.
 
Also, someone here mentioned something about exposure and the fact that Pakistani bands get exposure in Bollywood movies. If Indian bands were better, wouldn't these producers take them instead?
 
What a bullshit poll. The only way anyone's opinion would be meaningful here is if someone were to be active followers of both scenes (which I'm sure is the minority on these boards) and know enough of both to actually compare. Its like asking if I smelled better on Wednesday or on Tuesday when you're thousands of miles away.

India as far as i know my college days there were few Really# rockin bands

Like AGNI with their album wind dance with fire and Millenium from banglore this guys were reall kick ass in 90ties i dont know abt them now

Well i think pakistani rock bands r better than indian rock bands (hindi,urdu)....well i don't know any indian hindi rock band.....euphoria is not a rock band, its more of a pop....only indian rock band which i know sings close to hindi is indian ocean...and they r not pure hindi.....its a mix of hindi and some other indian languages.....but as far as english rock goes...indian bands r better.....if anyone is interested, i have interview of indian ocean......file is around 75 mb so if anyone is interested only then i'll post......cheers and keep struming.......
 
i cant help but agree with some of the previous posers.. you cant expect people to be keen supporters of both indian and paki rockers.. its like a competition..each will vote for their own kind. being indian, its ironic but i have yet to hear a pure - genuine indian rock band. the ones ive heard just manage to mingle different acoustic symbolism in their "garbage" and call it rock. they miss the actual element in their music.

i've hung around with many paki rockers who i have to admit have some music which is seriously worth saving and listening to.

so in this case, i go with the pakistani rock bands. they are more rocking than the indian (existence is questionable) bands.
 
Cmon guys, cyanide, decibel, junkyard groove, ftn, thermal n quarter r doing gud these days... But yeah, v hv no indian bands that produce sum hindi rock...

hmmm....the poll is very baseless by the way. Indian rock is good. I have heard good music from all original indian bands. but the thing about paki bands is that they have good lyrics and tunes, radio-friendliness and is generally popular in campuses throughout india. Maybe they dominate the music scene now but it aint right to call indian bands losers. BHARAT MATA KI JAI!!!
 
Yeah, d reasons indian rock bands are nt so popular:
-most of their stuff is not in hindi, so mass appeal is gone. (the reason mite be- hindi is not such a language dat u can really produce hard rock or metal wid it, sounds outta place)
-Bollywoods eats up indian rock.
 
The reason is that Indian rock music makers feel they are elites.

They feel they need to ape the US and European bands.
Thats why they never come into the popular groove.
