For everyone who is thinking about building a PC Recording Studio at home and how to do such, i've uploaded an E-book (the file is 6397 KB):

    https://rapidshare.com/files/49511929/PC_Recording_Studio.rar.html

    Discover how to:

Choose the right system and install software
Optimize studio sound for recording and mixing
Understand audio interfaces, sound cards, and MIDI gear
    Compare popular programs
    Mix and master your tracks

Hey, thanks for your wonderful reply, firstly, you don't have to "Sir" me, i'm just a normal person, just like you and everything i know i wrote it in this trhead, just read it carefully and try to do such!
I self teached myself this way and you just have to play with those progs mentioned in this sticky and someday you'll be able to make recordings like mine or even better, i'm just a beginner in this recording stuff, but if you want to know something, feel free to ask, if i'm capable to answer your questions, i'll surely do!
    Take care man!

this is a very informative topic...
i recently recorded couple of songs.....and i used the mic that had come with my desktop..its is quite ok....but the guitar sound is bit hard or produces jarring sound...which i did not notice that much while playing it....

i had purchased a philips basic mic for recording...but the problem with it is that i have to hold the mic very close to my guitar to capture the sound, especialy while playing leads...
can anyone suggest how to improve recording.....(using same mic if possible?)

(thread started for the recorded songs)

Maybe you should use an amplifier for your guitar recordings, but i guess the guitarplayers around here can give you more and better tips about how to record your guitar the proper way.
Actually i'm a keyboard player, so i really don't know much about this!!

Can you please elaborate on this. How exactly do you "master"? (I'm using Audition 3)

Hey Merqury07, its just what i said in my previous replies, everything i do on my computer with my home recordings, mostly i teached myself, so about the mastering of the final audio-file, i try to pump up the final audio file as good as possible and that i'm doing just by trying out some good mastering tools i've installed on my PC and by listening. Therefore i use: Yamaha Finalmaster, the EQ mastering set URS, WAVE Bundle, PSP, Mackie Finalmix and some more VST effects! So i can't tell you so much about this issue.
There are lots of websites about this issue, you can google for it, here are some sites, just take a look:

    https://www.diplo.co.uk/music/mastering.php
    https://www.tweakheadz.com/mastering_your_audio.htm
    https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug04/articles/computermastering.htm

Good luck and take care man!!!

EDIT: BTW thanks for your reps man!!!

Thanks..have you used Izotope Ozone? I just got that as a VST plugin for audition..it has a lot of presets which is good for beginners.
