hey frndz can u plz tell me if i cn import electric guitar from USA for my personal use. i will b bringin it on my own. i want to know if there wud b ny import duty?? plz help me....
i dont think there'l be any duty .. even if sm1 asks u just say its urs u play it .. i imported the my guitar frm the US .. it came by post .. and there was no duty on my guitar ..
hey nemo where did you get your guitar frm in the states?.....how was the condition of the guitar when it reached here?........thought of gettin one thru ebay but a bit scared...that i might lose my monet to some fraudulent ppl...u know they do exist on ebay...actually a lot!!.......
i bought my guitar on eBay .. it was in perfect condition .. every seller has a reputation .. chk it out and then buy whatever stuff u wanna buy ..
nemo, where are you in india? didn't the post office or customs try to open the box? and how much did the seller charge for shipping to india? and can you provide the name of the seller from whom you bought the guitar? appreciate the feedback.
btw for all you guys interested in buying guitars from the usa, note that most of the lower/middle end guitars in the usa are actually made in places like mexico, indonesia, japan etc. so if you want to get these, it might be cheaper for you to get it shipped from singapore or malaysia or even japan.
buddy im in noida .. i really am not sure why i wasnt charged custom duty .. and its pretty high i guess .. i dont think they can/shud open the packaging coz then they risk safety of the item .. i bought frm a seller called 'Route-62' .. they shipped by USP priority mail and charged $140 .. took 10 days to reach .. if i had a relative/friend who was in US who was coming to india now and able to bring it then i wud hv done that .. but there was none .. so i jst decided to get it shipped .. this is the link of the seller https://myworld.ebay.in/rt-62-music?ssPageName=ADME:X:CEM:IN:1181 u can also get a new guitar shipped thru musiciansfriend . com kind of sites .. theyre very reliable ..
actually i have myself bought/sold multiple guitars on ebay in the usa. i have also brought multiple guitars to india when coming here by flight. but i have never had it shipped directly here. btw did they ship by ups or usps? the first should be more reliable as it is a private courier company. but i think there is an amount of risk in this - some idiot out here might open and damage the item. also if the guitar is over a certain value they might charge customs duty - btw which guitar did you buy?
btw if any of you plan to buy on ebay, check the feedback of the seller first - make sure he has sold such stuff before. also check the description carefully. ask all the questions regarding weight, neck profile, pickups, condition etc. most of the sellers with good feedback are actually quite honest - but you might get unlucky. also there is a seller called "reliablefender" aka "stratosphere" on ebay. there sell used fender stuff. as fenders are normally bolt on you can buy the body and neck seperately. maybe it might be easier/cheaper to ship. likewise there is a seller called "gibsondependable" on ebay - yea you guessed it, he sells used gibson stuff. both are quite reliable. but fenders are normally indestructible in comparison to gibsons which are notorious for breaking at the headstock/neck joint. so the former might be a safe bet to ship. also many americans themselves import japanese guitars from a japanese company called ishibashi - you might want to do some research on that as well. also when you buy something make sure you buy it with a hardcase - it should protect the guitar during shipping/transit.
i got this guitar .. https://indianguitartabs.com/showthread.php?t=41797 it was shipped by UPS .. and the seller put a price tag of $500 on the packaging ..
duty is included for sure hey the customs duty will be included in the sale price . Any product coming to india will have customs duty on it. just check it out.
i bought myself a new guitar i also bought a guitar from www.20north.com. must check out the website. Although its still in transit. has anyone considered buying from this website?
well there was no custom duty included in sale on mine .. jst a flat rate of the guitar for anyone who wanted to buy it frm whichever country .. custm duty is not headache of the seller .. good u got ur guitar .. but its better to beware of noname websites .. go for the trusted ones like musiciansfriend or guitarcenter
nemo you sure about no custom charge when shipping from states other than shipping charge?.wer did you get it from anyway?.how much did they charge for shipping to india and is it safe......your reply means a lot dude....help......
