Hi all, I am newbie with the guitar world and I must say IGT has been my guru till now and i am very much sure IGT will continue to help me out in future. Thanks IGT coming to my question. I am trying to learn some songs by looking at the chords from IGT. I can read the chords when they r written in numbers format like this E|------------------------------------------------------ B|---------1--0---------0------------------------------- G|--2--2---------2---2------2--0------------------------ D|---------------------------------0-------------------- A|------------------------------------------------------ E|------------------------------------------------------ a a c b a a b a g d Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko BUT when the chords are written in alphabet format...I am clueless. Like this one Ebm Db Do, pal ruka, khwaabon ka kaarvaan B Db Bb7 Ebm… Aur phir, chal diye, tum kahaan, ham kahaan Ebm Db Do pal ki thi, ye dilon ki daastaan B Db Bb7 Ebm Aur phir, chal diye, tum kahaan, ham kahaan B Db Bb7 Ebm Aur phir chal diye, tum kahaan, ham kahaan What is the difference between these two types of notations ? Do i need to learn something so that I can read these alphabet format chords ? Please help me guys !!!

What you are referring to as chords in numbers are actually known as Tabs, which means that they are the notes which are to be played individually. And what you are referring to as chords in alphabet formats are actual chords : E.g- Ebm Db Do, pal ruka, khwaabon ka kaarvaan This means that you play the chord " Ebm " during the first part of the line and the chord " Db " during the later part....
