    Hey everyone,

Thanks for the final round selection!

For this last one I had to do a classic...One of my all time favorites.

I'm sure you've all heard of it: Classical Gas.

Amazing tune for any classical guitarist working on both left and right hand techniques.

My entry with some changes in performance and rhythm - Classical Gas: https://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=591291&songID=4344139

Apart from my entry/this contest, I wanted to give all of you a chance to check out a few more technically challenging songs that have helped me build my skills along the way.

On my soundclick site (https://soundclick.com/ahooja), check out Midsummers Daydream - an amazing song to learn all sorts of techniques. Let me know if anyone wants the tabs/notes for any of the songs. I can send up the chords/scale for Spanish Harlem for peeps interested in improv.

    Enjoy!

chintan9 yay! i won the ipod!

I've decided to resubmit my song ON THE RUN which seems to be doing pretty well on the sound click charts. For those who havent heard it, ON THE RUN is an instrumental piece with melodic phrasing, a tinge of funk, and is also progressive at times. If you guys listen real carefully you'll be able to hear the varied time signatures and guitar layering which I think, along with melody, are true highlights of the song.

    Thanks Spy_game!

I will put up some of those notes soon...

As for Spanish Harlem, the background is a simple chord progression of:

    Amin Gmaj Fmaj Emin

On top of that is all improvisation using a variety of scales:

    A Pentatonic, A Blues, A major, spanish A

I used those scales to improv the whole thing...The introduction is ad lib on those 4 major chords. You can use a pick or finger pick it - depends on your style.

Biggest thing with this tune - play it at a very fast tempo...and go insane with the improv! Don't be afraid to play some notes out of those scales - it sounds totally fine and fills up the performance using two simple rules: play it between two proper notes using hammer on's, and don't play it on the beat.

    Enjoy jamming Spanish Harlem!
