hey guys, Surprisely (for me too), i have become a proud owner of Ibanez JEM 555. Pretty decent guitar and i should say the way i play guitars i dont really deserve it. My special thanks to Black Mamba without his efforts i wouldn't have got it. I got a mixed feelings here. In one hand i got a guitar which screams and in other hand its played by a good-for-nothing guitarist. : Anyways, I'll try to justify. Here are the details: Color - White Body - Basswood Pickguard - modified (white) Pickup Color - White Knobs - White 5-way Tip Inlays - Pearloid Vine to fret 12. Pearloid dots elsewhere Fretboard - Rosewood, frets 21-24 not scalloped Fret 21-24 Scalloped - No Fret Wire - Ibanez SBB215-150 "Jumbo" Neck Type - one-piece maple Neck Joint - All Access Neck Joint Hardware - Cosmo Black Pickups - DiMarzio Evolution (Humbucker/Single/Humbucker) Tremolo - Lo-TRS II (inferior to the Edge) I couldn't find much of a difference in comfort with playing comparing to my old S470DX. HOwever, this JEM doesnt agree when it comes to sound. Its screams. The clean tone is sounds amazingly bright. No wonder it has a DiMarzios Evo pickups. https://www.jemsite.com/jem/model/jem555.htm Black Mamba is convinced that after a while i am going to sell my S470DX. Lets see. I couldn't definitely consider changing the bridge though in future.
Hey - enjoy the guitar. It was not a big problem getting it for you - I remember we did talk about the JEM the last time when I got you the S470 - but this piece is not like regular 555s - it is the original stock - 1994 based - infact if yous ee the headstock - it says Jem and not Jem Jr as most other 555s do....so that says something. Like I said - enjoy it! Next time go for a Les Paul
No man...I have a feeling that LP doesnt suit my style more importantly i dont deserve it. They are damn expensive. Wow! i do own a unique JEM! Psst.....my dad is already after me to sell my old guitar. S470DX still looks ***y man however JEM is like white princess. When you play it you feel divine.
Enjoy. Hope setting the bridge height and level helped you with the string buzz. Also, remember to lock the nut - I don't think I locked it before I sold the guitar to you yesterday... What was Ashish's reaction when you took the guitar to Bhargavas?
Congrats man. A JEM is a beautiful looking guitar man but the i've heard really bad reviews of the Lo-TRS II, Ibanez actually pulled it off their JS-100 series because of the bad reviews. So be careful with the bridge. Anyway dont worry bout not deserving the guitar, think of it as a challenge now to practice and deserve the guitar.
@everyone...thankyou guys!! @blackmamba....Ashish was a bit confused and surprised. Interestingly, He didn't ask me its price. He loved the way pickups sounded though; suggested me to raise the bridge. @Shridhar...I too have heard from many people to change the low TRS II bridge. Lets see. I'll probably do it next year.
@Alpha1 IbaneZ JEMs are Steve vai's signature guitars. @Fictional real How much did u get it for?? Must have cost u around 1 lac 50,ooo??????
@black mamba...he was confused coz he was wondering "where this guy-next-door has an JEM????". Then i told him you gifted me!! well...anyone suppose to believe that? : @everyone ....thanks @asmo...hey how much is your budget?
and here are the pics to his JEM. I have them because I bought it for him incase anyone's wondering! Enjoy!
