I can play any song on acoustic guitar. I want to start playing electric. Do i have to take up a seperate course or will the same notes work on electric?

you will feel easier when you play in an electric, if one play clean without fussy fingering he would find it pleasing, if one don't mute the unwanted notes then the poor technique would be highlighted easily and the chord sounding would be awful, not many notice the C/E sound when one intend to play only C in acoustic, but in electric it is distinguishable, power chord fingering is one important aspect where muting have to be very clean in electric, take it up and enjoy, you would get used to the new techniques if you have people to point it out and help

Electric guitar generally has softer strings so initially you'll find it easier
    but when you go overdrive.....aaahhh
muting is very important technique in electric..
I went from acoustic to electric to classical back to acoustic
so its all about personal preference
there is no rule that you "have to" play electric
    play what you enjoy :)
