Help with chords for 'man who sold the world'

I have a small problem:

The song 'man who sold the world' has the chords Dbm, Ab, B, E and C. I decided to play the song with the chords Dm, A, C, F and C#. i.e i moved all the chords a semitone higher. The song sounded all right, only that the scale was slightly higher than the original( i think). Is this acceptable or am i on a completely wrong track ? please advise.
