I live in the Washington,DC area (Northern Virginia), and am a music instructor (guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and bass guitar). I was a fan of Ravi Shankar and Mahavishnu John McLaughlan as a teen and young adult. I'm interested in how to get started (songs, books, methods, tunings, etc.) so that I can jam with some local musicians who play classical Indian and Afghan music.
