Hey he is selling his clean boost !!!!!! And making one for himself ............. He has one clean boost which i used to use ... But didnt appleal much to me .... May be my ignorance or wht ever !
That's 'cos you dont know what a Clean Boost is. That pedal is a real magic. It has amazed all the guys who have played through it. You wont like the Carl Martin Clean Boost either.
Almost missed it. Happy Birthday Ronnie Bhai. I'm thinking of turning my DS-1 into a treble booster later after i get a good tube pedal maybe like the Nady TD-1
The original Rangemaster and it's clones were called Treble Boosters which was used to increase Crunch and Sustain. Now that most of the amps have high treble themselves, you would end up cutting the treble a lot. If my guess is right, you meant that you will use your DS1 like a Clean Boost to drive your Tube Pedal. Most of the times, when you drive a tube amp or a tube pedal, it gets noisy and you require a bit of noise gate.
My idea was to have a tube pedal cause i cant afford tube amp and a pedal in hand to just boost the overdrive of any amp to high gain settings when i wont have my other tube pedal to drive it. This would be to maybe boost the clean channel to get SRV type of sound and blues stuff. Anyway all this is just castles in the air at this point i'll have to wait till it materialises to do something.
A tube pedal is good but the power amp section of the amp too adds a great deal to the tone. SRVs tone is not just his Strat + Fender Amp + Tube Screamer. There were so many modifications that were specially done for his amp and the Tube Screamer. It's a lot of these small things which you can even figure out even in the next 1000 years. So forget it and try to get your own sound. Whatever it is, just make sure the notes are very tight and crystal clear. That itself is a great deal.
