i agree....i never learnt scales by there name..... i just learnt there progressions.....and practiced them for hours on the end.....now i can take out solos for any rhythm u give me......
dudes, i think learning the concept is really important.Who wants to play covers all the time, and learning the complete thing opens up the whole sonic horizon rather than playing randomly as fast as you can. Besides i know a guy who doesn't even know the string names and he plays hendrix like anything all by ear.
