Distortion on an electric guitar is one of the most loved things..... ahh the vibrating sensation and satisfaction...(dont get me wrong)...

but well all amps dont have distortion of all sorts... all guess what u really dont need a button for all those effects u can do it by urself.....

examples of different kinds of sounds are...

    1. Clean sound
    2. Treble sound
    3. Gentle distortion
    4. MAXimum Distortion
    5. Muffled Distortion

now in an ordinary electric guiatar and amp (or even if u are using computer speakers...etc)... four option are usually present... namely

    1. input Volume (the vol control on ur guitar)
    2. Bass
    3. Treble
    4. and Master volume...(the vol control on ur amp)

it is these settings u arrange to get the kind of distortion u want.....

    here goes.....

    CLEAN SOUND

    SETTING

    1. Input Volume = 5
    2. Bass = 5
    3. Treble = 5
    4. Master volume = 5

    TREBLE SOUND

    1. Input Volume = 5
    2. Bass = 5
    3. Treble = 8
    4. Master volume = 4

    GENTLE DISTORTION

    1. Input Volume = 7
    2. Bass = 7
    3. Treble = 5
    4. Master volume = 4

    MAXIMUM DISTORTION

    1. Input Volume = 10
    2. Bass = 4
    3. Treble = 10
    4. Master volume = 3

    MUFFLED DISTORTION

    1. Input Volume = 10
    2. Bass = 4
    3. Treble = 3
    4. Master volume = 10

hope this helps...and ofcourse u can toddle around with these serrings and get the results u want...... hope u consider it worthy of any points....
    100% geniune work....

    HUmza......

this is good if ur using onyl guitar->amp - problems occur with these settings the moent ur going through a processor/though a noise gatew - an input volume of less than 10 causes the noise gate to cancel out someoff the actual sound - its best to leae input at 10 then... and only mess around with output volume.....

also most amps nowadays have triband equaliser... thats high, mid, low

these are some of my settings:

    1. cold metal distortion (especially for solos):

    full gain (atleast over 8)
    high - 9
mid - <2 (somtimes i even put it at zero)
    low - 4-5

    2. warm distortion:
decently high gain - around 6-9
    high - 6
    mid - 4
    low - 5
there are some relaly nice variatiosn - try and mess around with this one in particualr to get ur own sound!

clean - well - put input volume upto 10 - else havocs seems nice

    oops ...
if u put so less mids in your solos ... it'll hardly cut thru the rest of the band ...
especially coz the metal rhythm usually follows the same EQ ...

nope - try it - it gives the crazy cold cutting distortion.... its the type ud hear in a megadeth solo...
