yamaha pacifica is better than Av3 in terms of tone(versatility), quality of wood. Definitely Yamaha wud be my choice.

Can I ask you where you stay? And what bands you play for?

You can set up the guitar again.
But for jazzy stuff Yamaha would be better.
    For deth metal Greg!!!

Change the bridge pickup on the Pacifica! They suck! to something that gives you the versatality to play deth on the same axe!

    I'm having a similiar dilemma...

A Les Paul shaped guitar by Greg Bennett/Epiphone or the Yamaha Pacifica? Budget is up to 25k, this is my first guitar, and my rest of the stuff is a Digitech RP300A and a Marshall MG10CD.

I play classical and old rock, with the occaisional metal (main purpose of this guitar is for my neo-classical project). I require good clean tones and warm, thick, no-noise distortion.

    Which one would be better?

Edit - Can I get a locking Floyd Rose fitted on a non-locking tremolo setup from a shop? Would it be possible on the aforementioned guitars?
