hi luthier. do you do guitar modifications? Or anyone else on here for that matter...

I would like some switches put into my guitar. i want a couple of buttons / switches that you might find on a mixer that a DJ would use. possibly even a crossfader that switched between guitar and mute, or one of those switches that pops up and down?

all i want to do is be able to turn the pickups on and off or kill the sound in some way so that i can create tom morello style riffs like on 'know your enemy' intro by RATM.

Normally I would turn the volume to zero on 1 of the pickups and then use the pickup selector switch to cut back and forth, thus creating the choppy morello sound, but there are 2 problems with this:

1. I dont have seperate volume controls on my guitar for the pickups
2. The pickup selector switch breaks eventually anyway

Do you do this kind of thing? The guitar is cheap so if you mess up the finish whilst doing it I don't care...

 

@Alex....It's simple to do it...You just need to put something like a toggle switch. I have it in my guitar a separate Pickup On / Off Switch for my pickups. I use it for some cool On / Off thingy show offs on stage. I didn't know Tom Morello used it but it's a cool thing...

btw the colors r a bit distorted - what looks like black is actually dark reddish brown n the yellow is more like ochre

 

yep the orig lp sunburst finish got red/orange - this ones got a desert burst which is brown/ochre
