Can someone out here suggest a good firewall... which should essentially be free... I am using ZoneAlarm free version right now but then it is not good enough...
u can try Check pointTM firewall 1 4.1 or Cisco PIX or SonicWall as well as Symantec. THis r undoubtedly the bests in the market however i'm not sure which one of them is free u can chk them out:rock:
Why u need a fire wall . I dont think theres any use of it . If some one wants to fu** ur pc . He can do even on a firewall............ cOoL iS :rule:
Right you are... but I dont want any tom, **** and harry to fool around with my PC to hone his hacking skills... if it is screwed by someone who knows his trade well then... cant help it isnt it... havent got any critical data anyway on the one that I use to host content... Silent_Dragon, thanks for the suggestion... will try it out...
Dennis, Do you use the free version or the licensed one? The free one that I have with me doesn't allow me to configure the ports to be kept open... I can just allow people based on a range of IP's, particular IP address, or a subnet mask and the website address... now how do I configure it to allow requests based on port no. So that I can allow requests to port 80 and block all the other ports... Is there any firewall similar to IPTables(it is free) that you get on linux for windows? I mean something as powerful and as configurable as IPTable for example...
Check this one... And Opensource firewall for windows... https://www.governmentsecurity.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=4537 looks good... I myself am evaluating it... Opensource and windows is cool... and you pay a naught...
I use mcafee(vsc700d30en) firewall,, don't knw about others, but it's good . i can trace every port scan attack. !!!!
i have got the demo version, the demo period is 30 days. i use reinstall it after 30 days, after formatting the machine..
