Are you getting bored with that old recycle bin which doesn't seem to go from the desktop?? It's possible to get rid of that.. CAUTION:- It can be risky. Make a Backup of the system registry before continuing. I am not responsible for your work. I have tested it personally and it works for me. Go to Run and type 'regedit' Locate 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE' on the tree on the left hand side. Go down the following path : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace Now, find the following Key in it : {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} Delete the key, refresh your desktop. To restore, do the reverse process... Cheers!!
That wouldn't delete the recycle bin...lol... That ud just delete the recycle bin icon from desktop : Edited:- Got ur question wrong... See BElow!
Yes you can still do it.... Just disable "Hide Hidden files and folders" option from Tools> Folder Options.. Go to C drive.. Or D drive etc.. You will c a "Recycler" folder, inside that.. U will see the recycle bin folder.. Go to that folder and delete what you want (Rather, what you don't want
Why bother with messy reghacks? Just install TweakUI from Microsoft to remove it. You can just as easily restore the Recycle Bin if you have a change of heart. https://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx (scroll halfway down the page)
^^Nice post...I would still prefer the Reg tweak: It's like the diff. between Capturing photo with a Single shot and a SLR camera... The pleasure matters : EDITED:- IT doesn't have the option to hide or unhide Recycle bin...
Yes it does...open TweakUI, go under Desktop. There you can select whether you want to display the Recycle Bin or not.
Nice info both of you but im use to pressing Shift and Del to every file so i dun have to do the hard work of making ma Recycle Bin Empty all the time.
TIPS:- Even if you press Shift+DEL .. u can restore those files...... This happens because when you delete a file (but not shread it), the data stays on the hard disk as 1s and 0s and it's recoverable with special softwares...If u shread a file, the data is replaced with 0s and it's not recoverable anymore.......
When i deleted the whole of my folder. I cud only recover 20% of the files. The Softwares are actually useless.
No. Depends what software you're using. It is possible to recover the lost data but again if you add/remove files to/from the hard disk, chances are that the sectors on which this data is present can be overwritten. In this case you lose data. It is really unsure so it is better not to make Shift+Del a HABIT.
