This is Great man.. thanks buddy for such a quick reply.. you rock buddy.. how do you do that.. i was trying and trying but i didn't came up with such a great piece of work.. hay got any tricks in you bag for ear tabbing a song.... or are there any guide lines for ear tabbing a song... or just hit and trial thing... i do that.. try to fit the cords starting from F maj and then using cord progression to match the scale.. but it didn't work that well with me.. a friend of mine told me this trick... the progression that i use are

F Dm

C Am

G Em

D Bm

A F#m

E C#m

B G#m


The thing goes like this... the miners next to the majors are there parallel miners... normally there are 3 to 4 chords used in a song, comprising majors and miners… start with F or C chords, lets say the song starts from C chord.. then the following formation can be used… i.e keeping the root chord in the middle and taking its respective top and bottom chords…

C Am

G Em

D Bm


Try to figure out the song using the major and miner chords… lets say the song goes like this….

Em… D C ( Nothing else matters by “Metallica”)

If you want to shift it to a lower scale then look at the formation in the table and use the same formation of chord changes..

F Dm

C (3) Am

G Em (1)

D (2) Bm

Then it will become:


F (3) Dm

C Am (1)

G (2) Em

D Bm

Or if you want to shift it to higher scale do the same thing… but now you shift your chords to the bottom…

Listen to the song and then match the scale……its also very useful when the singer singing with you can not sing at higher pitch.. you can shift the chords down to match up with him…

Will this is the thing that I do… I am just a beginner… so figured this out my self.. may be there is some proper theory behind it . but I don’t know about it… so if you know some thing authentic you can let me know.. after all it will help us all…
